Save money on your wedding budget

2010 has gone and we are looking forward to see what 2011 will bring! With any luck the New Year will usher in a decade of economic recovery where Brides and Grooms can plan a wedding without all the stress of worrying about whether they can afford this or that or have to pick and choose what they can spend the money on. If 2010 has taught us anything it would have to be how to live with luxury Champaign taste on a beer income without having to forgo any of the amenities. Nevertheless there are ways to shave some wedding expenses and still have the wedding day of your dreams.

One way future brides can make her bridal accessories more affordable without having to give up that element of elegance is using hair combs, barrettes and hair pins instead of the long veil or the elaborate headpiece. You can find hair combs, barrettes and hair pins that are elegantly designed and can be worn again after the romantic wedding for other special occasions.

Exclusive wedding locations

You can cut some wedding costs by having a smaller wedding abroad. For a traditional wedding in the UK most brides and Grooms invites 100 or more weddings guests of which they don´t have daily, weekly or monthly contact with most of the wedding guests – but it is a wedding tradition that more or less everybody has to be invited. Just imagine how much you will save on your wedding by informing your family and friends that you want to get married abroad and you can´t afford to invite everybody. They will understand – and you will save a small fortune and on the other hand, you will only have the wedding attendance you really care about! In addition you may have a destination wedding in a French Castle as Château Hattonchâtel, an idyllic wedding in a Danish Manor House as Skrøbelev Gods or a sunny beach wedding, gazebo wedding at Ritz Resorts in Tenerife, Spain.

Wedding flowers

Another way brides can save some money on their dream wedding is silk flowers – it does not have to be French red roses. The cost of real flowers for unique wedding bouquets and wedding decorations can be astronomical. Silk flower arrangements are beautifully arranged and will last a lifetime. Not only will silk flowers look like real flowers but they can be used again afterwards for home décor as well as make a wonderful keepsake for the Mothers of the Bride and Groom and all the bridal attendants.

Wedding Reception costs for your stunning wedding can really mount up when it is all said and done. There is the food, the decorations, the wedding cake, the alcohol (if you decide to have any) and the music. Now one way to save some money on the wedding music is to have a DJ instead of a live band. With a DJ you get to play the music you want and not just what the band knows how to play. With a DJ you can play music all night long vs. a band who takes breaks after each set and will usually only play for a couple of hours unless you want to pay them more. With regard to alcohol (if you decide to have any) you may want to consider a cash bar. Or you can also decide to serve alcohol for just a couple of hours say at meal time. Either way is acceptable and can really save on the expenses.

Free wedding planner

There is no doubt about it that destination weddings can be costly if you chose the wrong wedding place in UK  – however the wedding location is very important. But by incorporating some of these wedding tips in your wedding planning will help to eliminate some of the wedding expenses. In today’s economy saving just a little bit helps.
If the hotel, inn or castle you have chosen for your wedding have a wedding planner – use the wedding organizer as much as possible, because they have the experience and the local knowledge. The above mentioned hotels all have free wedding planners for the bride to be.

To find beautiful wedding locations at affordable prices visit  Ritz-resorts, they offer you unique wedding locations in France, Denmark and Tenerife, Spain.

Valentines Day – Legend, Myth or Truth

In England and France during the Middle Ages it was commonly believed to be the beginning of birds’ mating season on February 14th thus, the idea was borne that this should be the selected date whereby one could express love and romance to their partner. Although a further theory is that, dating back to the Roman era and the ancient fertility festival, known as the Feast of Lupercalia, also gave birth to this idea. The festival took place at the beginning of spring and was held to honor the Roman God of fertility. However, the most common belief of the legend for the Valentines celebration derives from a legendary priest. He was the Patron Saint of this legend and during the third century in Rome he performed secret marriages for young couples. Marriage was at this time outlawed by the Emperor who wanted to make all men into better soldiers. The priest was seized by this cruel and unforgiving Emperor, Claudius II, and was sentenced to death. Thus St. Valentine became immortal in the hearts of all young lovers and 14th February became the day to pay tribute to this great sacrifice of Saint Valentine.

Valentines Day – a day of celebration

For centuries this celebrated date has now become a unique day dedicated to the unconditional love between two mortals. The whole day is dedicated to those whom have had their hearts pierced by cupids arrow and express and indulge their undying love and affection from the most simplest form to the most extravagant lavish gifts. The need to shower ones partner with love on this day and fulfil the experience of demonstrating the extent of feeling is done with the sending of cards, gifts of love and especially red roses. It is a day of togetherness. A day of devoting time your loved one, candlelit dinners and unbroken dreamy gazes into each other eyes with romantic words of endearment spoken softly. This day seems to open floodgates as the ideal opportunity to express unspoken thoughts and often to proposals of marriage.

Romantic Weekend Breaks

Did you know that Valentines Day is the second most celebrated day, Christmas being the first. It is a day that is celebrated throughout the globe. A gift on Valentines Day is pure demonstration of ones affection. It is recorded back to the seventeenth century where hand written love notes were exchanged. This was replaced in the eighteenth century by simple greeting cards being exchanged.

In the present day Valentines Day is marked for dating and extensive gift giving customs. The size of the card, gift or the act undertaken to demonstrate the amount of ones affection to their partner has become limitless! The whole environment wears a festive look literally! Shops and stores are filled with varieties of clothing and underwear adorned with hearts and cuties, all in a rich red colour.

The most traditional and popular way to demonstrate your love and affection is to send a single red rose. More often than not a poem is included as a note and there will be no name attached as the recipient should know from whom it has been sent, not always the case but this then enters into the fun element of the day.

proposals of marriage

Valentines Day is also the most popular day when proposals of marriage are made. Again here strikes the element of not only surprise but also romantic destinations are highly sought and are very much in demand, such as authentic Chateaus in France, Grand Manor Houses in Denmark or guaranteed warm climates at this time of the year such as Tenerife. Many couples which may have been parted find themselves uniting on this day, the distance one may have to travel to be with ones loved one is irrelevant.

It is the perfect date choice not only to demonstrate the depth of your love to your cherished one, and to then ask to spend the rest of your lives together.

Recently, it is also becoming a frequent fashion to begin demonstrating ones love a few days prior to Valentines Day, this is a fairly new idea and appears to be more in line with those intending to pop the question! It begins with perhaps a box of chocolates a day or so before. This would be followed by a bouquet and a love note, all leading to that one big surprise of a trip away to a Romantic Venue and the end gift being a red envelope enclosing details of that romantic venue for two.

“At the touch of love, everyone becomes a poet.

Red Roses for your celebration

This variety of rose creates a dramatic atmosphere bringing contrasts of light colors. If you require a particular flower for your fairy tale wedding, whether its for your own bridal bouquet or just simply as a decorative feature, the choice of the Red France Rose will delight you with its aroma and sense of delicate romance. The Red France variety of roses is the true red rose. In comparison, the Red France Rose has a higher petal count. The head of the rose is much larger than others and it is for this reason that this rose is often the choice to be given singularly as a solitary stemmed extension of ones affection, although it forms perfection when used in lavish bouquets.

From where does the red French roses originate?

This is a rare rose that you simply will not find blossoming in just any garden. This is the rose of roses and was originally cultivated by the Philippine rose growers and they alone were able to uniquely achieve this rose with its rich blood red color. The rose is now cultivated on farms in many corners of the World such as Vietnam, Ecuador, Columbia, Israel, and incidentally many African nations now farm this variety commercially. Later it is distributed to all over the world – in Europe you will find the French Red Roses and Berlin roses  in Spain, Italy, Scotland, Norway, Germany, England, France, Sweden, Portugal, Denmark, Belgian, UK, Yugoslavia, The Canary Islands, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Tenerife or Finland. Where ever your romantic destination wedding or wedding location is – you will be able to get these beautiful flowers. Red roses would look brilliant at elegant castle weddings in France or an idyllic Manor House in Denmark.

A beautiful bridal bouquet of roses

This rose has for many years, become the standard for florists internationally, so it does not matter if you want to get married in UK or you want to get married abroad – you will always be able to buy them, but rarely get a discount. The choice of this unique flower for a breathtaking bridal bouquet introduces a statement all of its own with its pronounced maturity of rich colour, nothing else is needed as the vibrant shade of its large petals against a stark white bridal gown are nothing less than dramatic and stunning. The use of this flower and its theme can be used for bridesmaids as a singularly stemmed hand held feature, a wrist fixture and perhaps the Grooms buttonhole.
This heaven-scented rose can be used in creating a gorgeous, romantic atmosphere for your wedding reception or wedding venue in Denmark by scattering its velvety rich red petals on starched pure white linen tablecloths. Perhaps a simple centerpiece is required, this is easily obtained by using a shallow glass bowl, filled with water and then placing petals and tea lights inside which will float and will then create an aromatic and romantic feature.

These French flowers simply look gorgeous mixed with other colors such as white roses or pink roses for a very attractive Valentine’s Day red and pink color combination or all three colors, because you can naturally mix them with white roses to create a strong contrast between the three colors. The strongest contrast you will get between the red and the white roses.

Red roses for weddings or birthdays

There are countless things you can do with these roses and their petals in relation to a beach wedding or romantic gazebo weddings in Tenerife. Why not consider including some of the rose petals inside your wedding invitations, place a single petal in your wedding guests champagne glass, place the petals in a tulle bag as wedding favors for you female guests, or if you’re holding your glamour’s wedding reception in a garden, why not consider creating a rose petal carpet. The more thought one has of this delightful flower, the more ideas and imagination of what is obtainable is boundless.

When you are getting married why not brighten up your wedding day and simply treat yourself, visit your local florist and purchase some Red France Roses, make yourself feel as special and unique as these beautiful flowers.

We all have stories to tell and here’s one of mine, dedicated to both of my sisters,  I Love  you Both

Pleased to meet you I am Larly the youngest of three sisters, the middle one is Charley and the eldest is Shelly. My two sisters got married within 3 months of each other and this is how it all went;

First Wedding

Shelley and Jerry
Shelly, the eldest made her wedding announcement first and decides to get married in the UK.  The wedding venue is in a hotel which is close by. I don’t know why, but   she took all the stress upon herself and became her own wedding planner, organiser and decision maker from start to finish and believe you me, it got very stressful at times! Her first big decision was pink!   Basically anywhere she could add a touch of pink got splashed! It all actually came together really well and lucked quite delicious! I hope you’re now getting some sort of imaginary picture. She had an exquisite long white wedding gown, the edging of which matched her wedding veil which purely by coincidence was trimmed in pink glittery bits and sequins, it was stunning! I have to skip over ever major and minor details and highlight the main wedding event.

On her Big Day……wedding day!

Everyone was suited and booted, the hairdresser came and did wonders with our hair and make up. The wedding bouquets were delivered with the relative button holes and corsages. The clock was ticking and the wedding cars arrived, she had 2 white Rolls Royce trimmed with pink ribbon, pink and white carnations hung delicately from the door handles and a small flower arrangement had been placed in the rear window. It was so exiting, all the neighbours and other on lookers had gathered by the roadside for a glimpse of the bride and wedding party.

La Caleta church wedding

Church wedding.

We were greeted by the vicar, he had a quite word with my sister, I think he was assuring her that all was well and calming any last minute wedding nerves. As we walked down the aisle, thoughts of tripping over or doing something wrong crept into my mind, I concentrated on where I was going as every eye in the church was watching us. I genuinely fought back tears as they took their wedding vows, it was very emotional.

All too soon or so it seamed the photographs had been taken and we were at the hotel. We gathered in the main bar of the hotel and were served with buck fizz. It suddenly dawned on me there were many more people here or had my eyes deceived me in the church, I obviously didn’t know everyone that Shelly and Jerry had invited, then, I saw them, another wedding couple!
How could this be I thought, what a nightmare and how do you separate guests, I could see my sister had just realised too and her and Jerry looked totally bewildered,  just then a loud voice came over the intercom system asking all the wedding guests from our wedding party to go to the banqueting hall number 2! To be honest I felt like I was in a farm, you know like separating cattle, anyway we eventually found our way.
I could hear the undercurrent discussion of what had just taken place and thank goodness it seemed to be shortly forgotten once the food came. The menu they chose was acceptably nice, the main course was a little on the cold side and I began to think about the other wedding and wondered if this was the reason. The speeches went well and daytime just seemed to drift into the evening, which brought even more guests to the wedding.
This was not much fun to begin with as the wedding next door had their evening guests arriving too and everyone seemed to be mingling between the two banqueting halls until they saw a familiar face.  I decided to post myself at the door and ask arriving guests if they were attending our wedding or not, after an hour or so I gave up and decided to go and unwind and enjoy the party which went on until around 1 a.m.

Its not really funny although we laugh about it now as we had to rescue Grandpa and Uncle Ron from the wedding next door, poor things got lost on the way back from the loo, it was some time before we discovered them missing but one knew where to find them, I thought they may have realised when they were charged for drinks next door as Shelley and Jerry had arranged a free bar. Perhaps they went in search of some young hot stuff!!

Some of the guests had made reservations at the hotel so as not to worry about drinking and driving, good idea! As for the rest of us we waited in a long queue for a taxi, the nightclubs were finishing too so we waited and waited…..

I tell you it was a memorable wedding day!

Second Wedding in a Castle

A place Where Dreams are Made

A place Where Dreams are Made

Charley & Dave
Charley didn’t wait too long and made her announcement. Quite a different scenario from Shelly, Charley’s only gone and got herself a castle wedding in France and a wedding organiser!

She really did her homework. I would have no idea how to get married in France. For instance, did you know, according to French law you have to be resident in France for 31 days in order to get married there, I didn’t but don’t be put off, read on! Charley and Dave got married in the registry office in our village, then, they had The Wedding Blessing!

We had a short flight from the UK into Luxembourg airport. It took us a little over an hour, firstly by motorway then country roads to reach our destination. As we approached the castle, our arrival was expected and the gates where already open.  WOW there it stood in all its glory, this magnificent historical castle. Honestly I stood there with my mouth open looking down at the breath taking valleys adorned by the beautiful countryside. This was to be our family home for the next five days.

My sisters beautiful Castle wedding

We were escorted to our rooms, I couldn’t wait. This was great! Time to explore, relax, be waited on and have a few tasters of some fine French Wines with no worries about driving ahhhh!

The wedding party in total was small, immediate family and a few close friends who had paid for their airfares and also accommodation, clever idea and very cost effective! Charley, Dave and the wedding organiser had co-ordinated everything, it was all planned to a faultless perfection.

Her beautiful Castle wedding day

On the morning of the wedding, we gathered in the great hall of the stunning castle, it wasn’t cold but there was a big fire burning in the fireplace. We had a buffet type continental breakfast, which consisted of an assortment of mouth watering delights. It was time to get ready. The wedding organiser had arranged a French hairdresser to arrange our hair. She was really sweet and did five hair do´s in no time at all. I helped Charley with her dress and veil, the suite she had was huge, a bed to die for and her own private sitting room which formed part of the tower with views over the Seine Valley and the most beautiful bathroom. I thought my suite was good but the Bridal Suite was something else, I was truly amazed. The Bridal Suite was in the tower of the Castle and had its own bathroom and lounge or sitting room.

I watched Charley come down the spiral staircase of the tower, a princess in her castle. We took our places behind her and went out of the castle and into the grounds. Every head turned to watch and a small band played here comes the bride. The wedding blessing was beautiful. Nothing about this ceremony was rushed or misunderstood. We threw lots of confetti adding even more colour to this wonderland setting.

Lovely wedding pictures

Lots of wedding pictures were taken and we were served champagne and canopies. There was no conception of time and one thing just flowed into another. We had a fabulous sit down meal within the castle, six courses, no rush, no fuss and no intruders! What a feeling of total, undisturbed relaxation. No fear of losing Grandpa and Uncle Ron this time! Later we had plenty to drink and danced the night away until we were all fit to drop!

It was great, we got up the following day and had a leisurely brunch, I could really get used to this! We spent the day in the French castle and its grounds. What a surprise, the following day, Charley and Dave had arranged for us to go ballooning, if you have never had this experience Wow, do it!! With time running out, we just had to fit in visits to Metz which apparently they call the City of Light and then to Verdun to see where the great battle of Verdun took place in the first World War.

So there you have it, two weddings. Independently different but both wonderful. Where should I have my wedding, when someone asks me I will tell you, watch this space!!
